September 18, 2014: The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed onto the full House its Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act. Most noteworthy in this passage was the lack of the type of partisan fighting that had become commonplace in the committee during Amtrak/rail discussion. Here is Rail Magazine's analysis.
August 2014, 2014: Representatives Sam Farr (D-Calif.) and Stephen Palazzo (R-Miss.), along with 16 other House members, author bi-partisan Dear Colleague letter (PDF)(62 KB) supporting doubling the federal commitment to the the Small Transit Intensive Cities (STIC) program.
July 15, 2014: By a 367-55 vote, the full House of Representatives passed H.R. 5021 (PDF) - the Highway and Transportation Funding Act, thus extending MAP-21 through May 31, 2015. The Senate is expected to take the bill up next week, while the Obama Administration has already signaled its support (PDF).
July 10, 2014: The House Ways and Means Committee will mark up a bill to fund surface transportation (and shore up the Highway Trust Fund) through May 31, 2015. Details of the bill are here and the text of the bill is here (PDF). Passed committee by voice vote, sent to House floor.
By a close (229-192) vote, the full House of Representatives passed the FY 2015 Transportation Appropriations bill on June 10. The final bill's funding levels are nearly identical to the committee-passed legislation.
