Big Night Out

Thursday, May 26

Big Night Out at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI)One of the major events of every EXPO is the Big Night Out. CTAAEXPO's closing event. Since our first EXPO in 1987, attendees have enjoyed an amazing variety of entertainment for our closing party. This year's event at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) will be spectacular.

One of the nation's leading science museums, OMSI is 219,000 square feet of brain-powered fun. Five enormous halls bring science to life with hundreds of interactive exhibits and displays. You can experience an earthquake, take part in live lab demonstrations, see a movie in The Empirical (a 4 story giant screen theater), and explore the universe in a world-class planetarium.

Of course the Big Night Out will also feature the best of Portland food, drink and entertainment. All of this while enjoying views of the Willamette River and the new Tilikum Crossing Bridge.

Pecha Kucha: An Informal Evening of Crowd-Sourced Presentations

Wednesday, May 25

Have you always had an idea you wanted to share with your colleagues at EXPO, but it's not quite enough for a workshop session? Or are you in the market for quick, innovative and fun ideas presented in smaller, snapshot doses? On Wednesday, May 25, our second-ever crowd-sourced event at EXPO employs the Pecha Kucha format of a set number of slides with pre-set timing for each slide, with each presentation running no more than 7 minutes.

We'll take you out of the standard conference meeting room to a less formal setting with light hos d'oeuvres and beverages-for-purchase after the regular EXPO program has wrapped for the day. You'll hear your counterparts from across the community and public transportation industry briefly share the attention-grabbing high notes of their latest innovations and strategies, hopefully bringing the funny at the same time. Have a fun, unique topic you'd like to share in the Pecha Kucha format? Humorists strongly invited to apply! Just send Rich Sampson a note at sampson@ctaa.org with your idea.
