As recent natural and man-made disasters have shown, there is a need for emergency management planning, both in rural and urban areas. Without clear strategies among agencies, emergency situations can quickly become chaotic when a disaster occurs. One of the most pressing components of managing large-scale emergencies is transportation - at the time of evacuation, to deliver supplies, and to bring people back in during recovery.
The Community Transportation Association of America has compiled resources and expertise to help your community plan for disaster situations. This will help you be better equipped for evacuations, medical emergencies, and other contingencies that may arise during a large-scale emergency.
