CTPA: Certified Transit Program Administrator Links
An applicant for certification must document an on-going program of professional development by attending training sessions, seminars, and conferences.
Within the four years preceding the date of application, an applicant must have received a total at least 40 classroom hours of training and professional development. These hours must be distributed among at least five of the six core knowledge areas detailed on the preceding page, with a minimum of six hours of training in five areas. These hours may be earned at training classes, academic courses, conference workshops, in-service training sessions at the applicant's workplace, etc. Continuing Education Units or academic credits are not necessary. Regardless of the venue, these hours must be in training that the applicant has received; hours spent preparing presentations, on-the-job experience, etc., do not count toward the hours-of-training requirement.
If an applicant has been employed in positions of transit programs administration for more than five years, and otherwise lacks 40 hours of training, he or she may satisfy the training and professional development requirement with 20 hours of training in at least three of the six areas (with a minimum of six hours in each of these areas), and may submit statements of on-the-job accomplishments that illustrate mastery of two areas in which no training was received.
